You Got What You Wanted. Why Does It Still Feel Wrong?

What happens when the life you built isn’t the life you want?

We’re too quick to put goals and expectations on ourselves.
“Once I do X, then I can finally do Y.”

  • Once I get 1,000 followers, then I’ve made it

  • Once I make six figures, then I’ll be fulfilled

  • Once I launch that business, then I’ll be happy

But here’s the problem:
When you hit 1,000 followers, it doesn’t feel like enough.
You want 10,000.
Then 100,000.

And just like that, the bar moves.

You’re chasing something without ever stopping to ask why you wanted it in the first place.
Most of the time, you’re chasing a goal that was never yours to begin with.

The Lie of Overnight Success

We scroll past people bragging:
“I work 4 hours a week and make $500,000 a year.”

And we start thinking we’re behind.

So we chase the same dream.
Start an online business.
Quit our job.
Try to “make it” on the internet.

What they don’t show you is the 5 years of 80 hour weeks that came before the auto pilot system.
We’re not chasing success we’re chasing the shortcut.

And the worst part?

We’re building our lives on someone else’s expectations.
Not our own.

So... What Are Your Expectations?

Here’s a harder question:
Who are you actually doing this for?

Have you ever been asked to describe yourself and realized all you talk about are surface level things?

  • Age

  • Job

  • Where you live

  • Your hobbies

But what if someone asked:
“Describe your personality.”
Could you do it?

Could you explain your triggers?
Your insecurities?
The stuff that actually drives your behavior?

If I’m being honest, my wife could probably describe me better than I could. And with a lot less bias.

You Can’t Set Real Goals Until You Know Yourself

Here’s the truth most people avoid:

You’ll never set the right goals until you actually know who you are.

Not the filtered version.
Not the version you post online.
But the raw, honest version.

Ask yourself:

  • What bothers you more than it should?

  • What are you afraid of?

  • What do you genuinely enjoy doing?

  • Who do you want to become?

These aren’t 20 second answers.
They’re uncomfortable. They take time.
You have to sit with them: journal, reflect, repeat.

No course or shortcut can do this for you.
You’ve got to do the real work.
The internal work.

Build From the Inside Out

Once you understand yourself, you stop chasing fake goals.
You stop comparing your path to someone else’s.
You stop moving the goalposts.

And for the first time,
You start living a life that’s actually yours.
